The urgent issues raised in the The Employment Gap in London have prompted London Councils to make five recommendations for improving London’s skills and employment system.

The eighth report in our Youth Jobs Gap series, this one focused on London, finds that the rate of young Londonders out of education, employment and training is consistently higher than the national average. But it's not all bad news: young people from disadvantaged backgrounds in London are more than twice as likely to go onto higher education than their peers in other regions.

This new NIESR and Impetus report reveals that disadvantaged young people are 50% more likely to be NEET (not in education, employment and training) than better-off peers, irrespective of their qualifications.
