Ready for Work

Ready for Work

Career services are fractured. Employers often express concerns over young people being ready for work. So what makes the biggest difference to young people's work-readiness?

Through our Ready for Work research, we have identified six essential capabilities young people need to be ready for work:

  1. Self-aware
  2. Receptive
  3. Driven
  4. Self-assured
  5. Resilient
  6. Informed

In order for disadvantaged young people to be ready for work, they need holistic support. Our charity partners such Resurgo and TwentyTwenty provide intense support to hard to reach young people to prepare them for the world of work.

Backing the best: Our work with Resurgo

When Impetus came on board in 2010, Resurgo’s main priority was to expand beyond the two centres it was operating in Hammersmith and Chelsea. Today, with Impetus' support, they have improved the effectiveness of their programme so that they are getting more young people into work, for longer, and they have expanded to eight centres across London.
