The need: Our research shows that young people from disadvantaged backgrounds are twice as likely as their better-off peers to be out of education, employment or training (NEET). There is also clear data showing that ethnic minority young people are disproportionately impacted by unemployment.
Bristol is ranked the 7th worst out of 348 districts in England and Wales for inequalities experienced by ethnic minorities and has an ethnic minority employment gap that is over twice the national level.
Our charity partner: Babbasa is an award-winning organisation, delivering an evidence-backed programme in Bristol. Their mission is to inspire and support young people from low income and ethnic minority communities to pursue their professional ambitions.
Babbasa provides youth empowerment programmes which support young people to improve their confidence, pursue their professional ambitions and become economically active
Babbasa's OurCity2030 initiative, in partnership with Bristol City Council's One City Office, aims to support young people from low income households, starting from inner city Bristol, to secure a median salary role by 2030.
Our Impact: We’ll help Babbasa to refine their intervention, develop a blueprint for their impact and develop their income generation so they can further address Bristol’s underserved ethnic minority population.
