In terms of the outcomes and what we’ve got from the project ... it's been transformative in how we’ve worked with our corporate partners.

Pro bono supporter: Fairgrove Partners
Portfolio partner: Jon Egging Trust (JET)
Project type: Market mapping and corporate partnership strategy
Why the project was needed:
The Jon Egging Trust (JET), which empowers young people from disadvantaged backgrounds through inspirational STEM environments, faced the need to expand its programmes to provide long-term support and to grow its network of corporate partners. By doing so, JET aimed to extend the reach and impact of its programmes, offering more out-of-school experiences that could inspire the young people they serve. With 25% of JET's income coming from these existing partnerships, it was vital to identify new partners and explore broader opportunities within the aerospace and STEM sectors. Additionally, understanding the potential for engaging in social value partnerships became crucial to sustaining and enhancing their impact. This is where pro bono support came in.
What the project involved:
Fairgrove Partners conducted a detailed analysis over several weeks, which involved mapping potential corporate partners in the existing sectors (aviation and space), exploring opportunities in broader STEM sectors, and assessing the feasibility of a social value partnership model. The project produced a comprehensive list of potential partners, a scoring system for prioritisation for new potential partners, and strategic insights into how JET could leverage the social value model for funding and support.
What was something that I really enjoyed was that we were able to see the impact of our work ... and to be able to hear that we had managed to create a difference for JET. I think that made it a really rewarding experience.

Impact of the project:
The project has been transformative for JET, allowing them to target an additional £260,000 in income in the 2023 financial year and offer workplaces and out-of-school experiences to young people JET support. The research provided by Fairgrove Partners has become a central tool in JET’s strategy, allowing them to centralise and standardise its approach to corporate partnerships, which has significantly increased its corporate income and extended its reach to more young people. The project also laid the groundwork for leveraging social value models in future partnerships, further enhancing JET’s capacity to support their young people.
