Safeguarding at Impetus
At Impetus, safeguarding is a core value and a non negotiable priority. We are dedicated to ensuring the safety, dignity, and wellbeing of the young people and adults at risk we support through our funding and partnerships.
Our Commitment to Safeguarding
We believe no young person or adult at risk should experience harm, abuse, or exploitation. Safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility, and we are committed to:
- Taking all reasonable steps to protect against neglect, abuse, and harm in all its forms, including physical, sexual, emotional, and psychological harm.
- Embedding safeguarding principles across our organisation and ensuring the organisations we fund operate to similarly high standards.
- Upholding robust safeguarding policies and procedures that are supported by regular training and awareness for our staff and trustees.
- Reviewing and updating our safeguarding practices to align with evolving legislation and best practice.
How We Work
At Impetus, safeguarding is central to how we work with our staff, portfolio partners, and stakeholders.
- Internal Practices: All Impetus staff and trustees adhere to safeguarding policies, which are underpinned by comprehensive training, clear reporting processes, and a culture of accountability.
- Funded Partners: As part of our funding process, we conduct thorough safeguarding due diligence and maintain ongoing monitoring throughout our partnerships. We expect all our portfolio partners to have robust safeguarding policies and procedures in place that align with our safeguarding standards.
- External Oversight: Any safeguarding incidents related to our work or the projects we fund are reviewed and managed with diligence. Where necessary, we refer partners to specialist safeguarding organisations for additional support or expertise.

A Shared Responsibility
Safeguarding is integral to creating a positive and secure environment for the young people and adults at risk we support. It requires collaboration, accountability, and vigilance from everyone involved. At Impetus, we strive to lead by example, working to ensure that safeguarding remains at the heart of everything we do.
